I swear I will get better at this...

Hey yall!
Sorry for the lack of activity here.  I am still getting used to this fabulous city!
Lets see... what have I done in the past few days...
1. watched Obama's inauguration at a pub on Tuesday.  It was completely packed and had fun red, white, and blue decorations. Oh and they had a special Obama burger on the menu (not quite sure what that meant... my past experiences with burgers here have been less than satisfactory so I now avoid burgers).  It was really funny watching it on BBC because the commentators have such a different point of view from American commentators.  Some of the things they said were ridiculous like... when Biden made his entrance one BBC anchor said "and here is joe biden... he gets to be President if Obama is assassinated." (how cheery) and of course there were several negative comments regarding Bush (surprise, surprise).
2. Today was Robert Burns Day.  Robert Burns was a poet from Scotland and today is his birthday so of course the Scottish celebrate by drinking heavily, eating haggis, and reading his poetry.
3. yes I tried haggis (for those of you who dont know what that is... haggis is an
animal stomach stuffed with fun things like sheep liver, heart, lungs, minced onions, and other things I cant think of at the moment) Surprisingly it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Its served with nips and tatties (turnips and potatoes)
4. While exploring the city I found a pork sandwich place that had a GIANT pig in the window (see the picture)
5. I am taking the train to Glasgow tomorrow night to see Bloc Party and am soooo excited!

I hope everyone is doing well back in the states and I miss all of you so much!

My Flat!

Hey yall!
So I arrived in Scotland on Thursday afternoon and am just now becoming a non-jet lagged, functioning human
being! I moved into my flat yesterday morning and am living in a 6 person flat, each with our own rooms.  Its i
n a fabulous location and is close to pretty much everything (not that Edinburgh is even that big). My room is... slightly smaller than expected, but has a great view (as shown below).

Last night I went out with a bunch of other Americ
ans here for the semester and it was super fun! Today I had orientation and tomorrow I start class ah. Oh and today was the first time I have seen a hint of blue sky since I got here Thursday. It is really wind
y and cold here so that will definitely take some getting used to!

Here is my flat... yes fitting my 4 suitcases worth of clothes has proven to be impossible and I am still in the process of trying to make it work. And then there are some pictures of the view from my room.
